Kathryn "Katy" Vaz founded Launch Literacy, LLC in 2022 in order to support individuals evaluated with dyslexia or those exhibiting characteristics of dyslexia or other language based learning difficulties. Katy completed Academic Language Therapy training at the Payne Education Center in Oklahoma City, OK and is certified by ALTA (The Academic Language Therapy Association.) Katy is trained in the Orton-Gillingham based Take Flight: A Comprehensive Intervention for Students with Dyslexia developed by the Luke Waites Center for Dyslexia and Learning Disorders at Scottish Rite for Children. Adherence to research and evidenced-based instruction, incorporating the Science of Reading and multimodal structured language education, are guiding principles of Launch Literacy's work. Positive social and emotional learning experiences are the heart of each session.
Katy is a Level III Instructional Leader and holds endorsements in Early Childhood Education, English Language Arts, Reading, and TESOL: Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. Katy earned a Bachelor's Degree and Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential from California State University - Stanislaus. She completed a Master's Degree in Reading and Literacy from Eastern New Mexico University. Katy also holds Education Administration Credentials through ENMU and the New Mexico Public Education Department.
